Unity makes strenght

Bulgaria, one of the nations in the European Union, is perhaps in its strongest position it has ever been in. The European Union passport and Bulgarian education system guarantees a reasonable if not good standard of living in continental Europe. It has the opportunity to bring together all people with at least one parent of Bulgarian heritage under its diaspora. Macedonia, Greece, Turkey, Roumania and Israel all have significant Bulgarian populations and all have good economic and cultural reasons to seek Bulgarian citizenship.
While some might see this as causing an undue burden on an already overstretched social system, these people often bring with them skills and benefits which can only help the nation grow. In a nation of 10 million where over 2 million of the youth have already left the country, diversity of languages skills and abilities is what Bulgaria needs. Reversal of the dreadful and shameful Turkish policy of deportation, while expensive, is vital.
Bulgaria is finally in a position to reclaim its national honour in Northern Greece, Southern Roumania, Eastern Macedonia and Western Turkey, not through annexation, but through recognition of these peoples rightful claims to citizenship and by having an expanded and legally trained foreign office litigate vigorously and seriously press politically for these Bulgarians to have free language, religion and cultural rights in whatever state they live in. All Bulgarians under the sun deserve these rights. Bulgarian should not be cowed by its neighbouring nations. It is time to show these nations that
Bulgaria and Bulgarians stand behind the principles of the European Union of Freedom and Human Rights, and that old excuses against integration belong in the past.
